  21. I'm glad you're interested in designing your own
  22. In Game Module for Lord II: New World.
  23. Unlike IGM's for other RtSoft creations such as Lord and Teos,
  24. development of Lord II Igm's is simple and affordable. The Heart
  25. of the Lord II Engine is based on a scripting language called REF.
  26. Designed just for Lord II, the REF language is similar to BASIC,
  27. and much easier to learn. To get started, read REFHELP.DOC within
  28. the "Lord II: New World" directory.

  316. Step 1 - Unzip the IGM ZIP file to a new directory

  327. Q: What does "Range Check Error" Mean?
  328.  
  329. A: A Range Check Error is most often created because you forgot to place
  330. @DO `V01 IS 1 before a @CHOICE command. This must ALWAYS preceed a @CHOICE
  331. command. It sets the line which the choice bar starts on. If `V01 stores a
  332. value GREATER than the number of choices, you get the RANGE CHECK error
  333. because the default value is OUT OF RANGE.

  335. Q: What is a MAP read Error?
  336.  
  337. A: An error is generated when the Lord II program is told to move a character
  338. to a map block that does not exist. Check your code and make sure you entered
  339. the correct BLOCK id, not the MAP # inside the @LOADMAP and the @DO MAP IS.

  342. Q: When I move the player the screen does not change to the correct spot!
  343.  
  344. A: Chances are you are skipping a step while moving the character in your REF
  345. file. The correct code for moving the player to another map is as follows:

  354. Q: I used correct code to move the player to another screen, why does it
  355. always say "Moving to bedroom"?

  357. A: You have entered an invalid map block number to move the player to.
  358. Lord II senses this and moves the player back to the one place it knows
  359. exists (the Bedroom) to prevent a fatal error. Please check to make sure
  360. your numbers are correct, and that they are the BLOCK NUMBER, not
  361. the MAP NUMBER.
  362.  
  363. Q: How do I make a prompt that only shows up if the player is male or female?
  364.  
  365. A: You can use the word variable "sex" just as you would with any other player
  366. variable within the @CHOICE statement. The correct code follows:
